SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 56-11
DTC 56-11:
Lost communication with the ECM (engine message)
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures
and
General Troubleshooting Information.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and see if the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) comes on.
Does the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) come on?
YES

Go to
Step 2

NO
-
Go to the PGM-FI System MIL circuit Troubleshooting.

Erase the DTC memory.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and wait for 10 seconds.
Read the DTC.
Is DTC 56-11 indicated?
YES
-
Go to
Step 5
.
NO
-
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures.
If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.■
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait for 3 minutes.
Disconnect SRS unit connector A (28P) from the SRS unit.
Disconnect ECM connector A (44P) from the ECM.
Install a jumper wire between terminals No. 11 and No. 12 SRS unit connector A (28P).
