DTC Troubleshooting: B1178
DTC B1178:
 F-CAN Communication Line Error
  1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
  1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Are all of DTCs B1168, B1170, B1178, B1183, and B1187 indicated at the same time?
YES -
Go to Step 4 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for DTCs in the ECM with the HDS. If F-CAN DTCs are present, check for loose or poor connections at the gauge control module and the ECM. If the connections are good, check the battery condition and the charging system, then clear all DTCs.■
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the gauge control module (tach) 36P connector.
  1. Disconnect the ECM connector A (44P) *1 (49P) *2 .

  1. Connect the gauge control module (tach) 36P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 19 and body ground with jumper wires.
