Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam Removal/Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
  • Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the dashboard.
  • Take care not to scratch the dashboard, body and other related parts.
  • Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  • When removing components, use the trim tools or equivalent.
  1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
  1. Remove these items:
    • Rear center console
    • Driver's dashboard lower cover
    • Front center console
    • Passenger's dashboard undercover
    • Glove box
    • Kick panels, both sides
    • Front pillar trim, both sides:
    • -
      Without side curtain airbags
      -
      With side curtain airbags
    • Front pillar corner trim
    • Steering column

  1. From under the dash, disconnect the EPS unit harness connector (A), dashboard wire harness connectors (B), EPS unit subharness connector (C), and the brake switch connector (D) from the driver's underdash fuse/relay box (E), and then release the wire harness clip (F). RHD is shown; LHD is symmetrical.
    NOTE: Life the large wire harness connector locks (G) before trying to remove the connectors from the fuse/relay box.
