DTC Troubleshooting: P2033 (188)
Check for continuity between ECM connector No. 1 terminal No. 64 and body ground.
YES

Repair open in the wire between EGT sensor 2 and ECM connector No. 1 terminal No. 63, then go to
Step 17
.
NO
-
Repair open in the wire between EGT sensor 2 and ECM connector No. 1 terminal No. 64, then go to
Step 17
.
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Reconnect all connectors.
Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Reset the ECM with the HDS.
Start the engine, and keep idling until the engine coolant temperature becomes 70 °C (158 °F).
Test-drive under these conditions:
Engine coolant temperature (ECT SENSOR 1) above 70 °C (158 °F)
On flat route
Transmission in 2nd gear
Vehicle speed above 60 km/h (38 mph)
Drive about 30 seconds or more
Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
YES
-
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at EGT sensor 2 and the ECM, then go to
Step 1
.
NO
-
Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2033 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the screen indicate PASSED?
YES
-
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs were indicated in
Step 22
, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.■
NO
-
If the screen indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals at EGT sensor 2 and the ECM, then go to
Step 1
. If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to
Step 20
.
Reconnect all connectors.
Start the engine, and keep idling until the engine coolant temperature becomes 70 °C (158 °F).
Test-drive under these conditions:
Engine coolant temperature (ECT SENSOR 1) above 70 °C (158 °F)
On flat route
Transmission in 2nd gear
Vehicle speed above 60 km/h (38 mph)
Drive about 30 seconds or more
Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2033 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the screen indicate PASSED?
