DTC Troubleshooting: P2199 (125)

DTC P2199:
IAT Sensor 1/2 Incorrect Voltage Correlation
NOTE:
  • Before starting this troubleshooting, record all freeze data and review the general troubleshooting information.
  • Before starting this troubleshooting, check for poor connections or blockage at the intake air duct.
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  1. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 2,000 rpm (min −1 ) without load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
  1. Test-drive under these conditions:
    • Engine coolant temperature (ECT SENSOR 1) above 80 °C (176 °F)
    • Transmission in 3rd gear
    • Vehicle speed between 40 km/h (25 mph) and 60 km/h (38 mph)
  1. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2199 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the screen indicate FAILED?
YES -
Go to Step 6 .
NO -
If the screen indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1, the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2 and the ECM, and check for poor connections or blockage in the intake air duct. If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to Step 4 and recheck.
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  1. Remove the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1, and the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2.
  1. Allow the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1 and the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2 to cool below 25 °C (77 °F).
  1. Note the ambient temperature.
  1. Connect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1 to its 2P connector and the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2 to its 2P connector, but do not install them into the intake air duct.
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  1. Note the value of IAT SENSOR 1 and IAT SENSOR 2 quickly in the DATA LIST with the HDS.
  1. Compare the value of IAT SENSOR 1 and the ambient temperature, and the value of IAT SENSOR 2 and the ambient temperature individually.
Does either sensor differ more than 35 °C (63 °F) from the ambient temperature?
YES -
Replace the sensor that differed more than 35 °C (63 °F) from the ambient temperature, then go to Step 14 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or blockage in the intake air duct, then go to Step 14 .
  1. Install the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1, and the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2.
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  1. Reset the ECM with the HDS.
  1. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P2199 indicated?
YES -
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1, the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2 and the ECM, then go to Step 1 .
NO -
Go to Step 20 .
  1. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2199 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the screen indicate PASSED?
YES -
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs were indicated in Step 19 , go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.■
NO -
If the screen indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1, the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2 and the ECM, then go to Step 1 . If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to Step 17 .
