Fuel Filter Water Level Switch Test

  1. Connect fuel filter water level switch 2P connector terminal No. 2 to body ground with a jumper wire.
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and then check the water in fuel filter display.
    • If the water in fuel filter display is on, repair open in the BLK wire between the fuel filter water level switch and G401. If wire is OK, go to Step 8 .
    • If the water in fuel filter display is not on, repair open in the GRN wire between the fuel filter water level switch and ECM connector No. 2 terminal No. 86. If wire is OK, substitute a known-good ECM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM, replace the original ECM.
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  1. Remove the fuel filter water level switch from the fuel filter.
  1. Check the float movement of the fuel filter water level switch.
    • If the float movement is OK, go to Step 11 .
    • If there is a problem on the float movement, replace the fuel filter water level switch.
  1. Connect the fuel filter water level switch 2P connector to the fuel filter water level switch.
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  1. Move the float of the fuel filter water level switch, and check the water in fuel filter display.
    • If the display turns on when the float is at the top position, the fuel filter water level switch is OK.
    • If the display stays on or off when the float is at any position, replace the fuel filter water level switch.
