Clean and degrease the outer supporting part (A) and the contact side of the piston (B) and the shim of the rear caliper. Make sure that no grease content was left.
Rotate the caliper piston clockwise into the cylinder, then align the cutout (C) in the piston with the tab (D) on the inner pad by turning the piston back. Lubricate the boot with rubber grease to avoid twisting the piston boot. If the piston boot is twisted, back it out so it is positioned properly. Make sure the piston boot is in position to prevent damaging it when installing the caliper.
NOTE:
Be careful when moving the piston back in the caliper, the brake fluid might overflow from the master cylinder's reservoir.
Return the piston fully so as to prevent damaging the sticky shim.
Install the rear caliper according to the inner pad. Install the new flange bolts (E), and tighten it to the specified torque while holding respective caliper pin (F) with a wrench. Be careful not to damage the piston boot and the pin boots.
Start the engine, press the brake pedal for 10 seconds (pedal pressure: 20 kgf).
NOTE: This is to settle the sticky shim.
Press the brake pedal several times to make sure the brakes work.
NOTE: Engagement may require a greater pedal stroke immediately after the brake pads have been replaced as a set. Several applications of the brake pedal will restore the normal pedal stroke.
After installation, check for leaks at hose and line joints or connections, and retighten if necessary. Test-drive the vehicle, then
check for leaks.
