S-mode (R18A2 Engine Model)
Operating S-mode switch changes normal mode to S-mode.
When driving in auto mode with S-mode selected, shift timing and engine speed change automatically. When driving in manual mode with S-mode selected, engine responsiveness becomes sporty as shift timing and engine speed changes are made by the driver. S-mode operates for forward driving. It does not operate on reverse moving, and can not be selected When cruise control is used.
When S-mode is selected, the gauge control module (speed) ‘‘S'' indicator lights up. While in S-mode, pushing the S-mode button cancels S-mode and turns of the ‘‘S'' indicator light. Also, when selecting the cruise control function, or when the ignition is turned to the LOCK (0) position, ‘‘S'' mode is cancelled and returns to normal mode.
When S-mode is selected, ON signal is input to TCM, and TCM changes the shift map and engine speeds accordingly. Using F-CAN communication, TCM sends commands to the ECU to change the throttle position and to illuminate the ‘‘S'' indicator of the gauge control module (speed).
When S-mode is selected, shift timing changes. It shortens the time for the clutch to get engaged when shift up or shift down.
When S-mode is selected, observe the ECM changes in the throttle position characteristics from normal mode to S-mode.
When S-mode is selected while in auto mode, observe the TCM changes to the shift map from normal mode to S-mode.
