The gear shift control module, TCM, and combination meter are communicated through the F-CAN.

The gear shift control module is equipped with magnet and shift lever position sensor that determines the driver's operation of the shift lever, and the gear shift control module sends the shift position signal to the TCM. The TCM sends the gear shifting information to the combination meter.

The steering wheel shift switch at the steering wheel has the same ‘‘+'' and ‘‘−'' functions as the gear shift control module, and the operation signals passes through the gear shift control module and are sent to the TCM.

The gear shift control module has Detent mechanism that secures a smooth feel when the shift lever is operated.

Shift lever position is kept at ‘‘N'', ‘‘R'', or Driving Position, and when ‘‘+'', ‘‘−'', or ‘‘A/M'' is selected, it goes to Driving Position.
