M/T Assembly Installation

Special Tools Required

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
  1. Loosen the upper torque rod mounting bolt (A).
  1. Raise the vehicle on a lift.

  1. Make sure two dowel pins (A) are installed in prescribed hole on the engine block as shown.
  1. Place the transmission on the transmission jack, and raise it to the engine unit level.
  1. Join the transmission and engine unit with putting through the transmission mainshaft to the clutch pressure plate and the clutch disc until it becomes no gap between the transmission housing and the engine block.

  1. Install the lower transmission mounting bolts (A).

  1. Install the clutch cover (A).

  1. Install the intermediate shaft (A).

  1. Install the lower torque rod mounting bracket (A) with new bolts.

  1. Install the new lower torque rod mounting bolts.
  1. Lower the vehicle on a lift.

  1. Install the transmission mounting bracket base (A) and stud bolts (B).

  1. Install the new transmission mounting bracket bolts (A), new transmission mounting bolt (B) and new nuts (C) then install the ground cable (D).
  1. Raise the vehicle on a lift.

  1. Loosen and retighten the lower torque rod mounting bolt.
  1. Lower the vehicle on a lift.

  1. Tighten the upper torque rod mounting bolt.

  1. Install the upper transmission mounting bolts.

  1. Loosen the wing nut (A). Remove the hook (B) and the engine support hanger (C) from the vehicle.

  1. Remove the subhanger stay (A) from cylinder head.
  1. Install the harness holder stay (B) and air cleaner housing bracket (C), then install the breather pipe (D) and the harness holder (E).

  1. Connect the output shaft (countershaft) connector (A).

  1. Apply a light coat of silicone grease to the cable ends (A), and connect the cable end to the change lever assembly (B), then install the shift cable bracket (C) and the lock pins (D). Do not bend or damage the shift cable.
    NOTE: Make sure not to get any silicone grease on the terminal part of the connectors and switches, especially if you have silicone grease on your hands or gloves.

  1. Connect the back-up light switch connector (A) and the reverse lockout solenoid connector (B), then install the engine harness cover (C) and the harness clips (D).

  1. Apply a light coat of molybdenum grease to the end of the cylinder rod (A).
  1. Install the clutch hose bracket (B), then install the slave cylinder (C). Do not bend or damage the clutch line.
  1. Install the battery base.
  1. Install the battery. Connect the positive cable first, then the negative cable to the battery.
  1. Check the shift lever and the clutch operation.
  1. Test-drive the vehicle.
  1. Enter the anti-theft code for the audio or the navigation system, then enter the customer's audio presets, and set the clock.
