Climate Control/Navigation Communication Line Circuit Troubleshooting

  1. Operate the climate control system in several modes.
Is the climate control system OK?
YES -
Go to Step 2 .
NO -
Is the Air-Con icon red?
YES -
Go to Step 3 .
NO -
Go to Step 9 .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect navigation unit connector B (32P).
  1. Disconnect the climate control unit 32P connector.
  1. Check for continuity between the following terminals of the climate control unit 32P connector and navigation unit connector B (32P).
    CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT 32P:
    NAVIGATION UNIT 32P:
    No. 5
    No. 4
    No. 6
    No. 20
    No. 21
    No. 21

Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to Step 7 .
NO -
Repair open in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the navigation unit.■

  1. Check for continuity between body ground and the navigation unit connector B (32P) terminals No. 4, 20, and 21 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair short to body ground in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the navigation unit.■
NO -
Go to Step 8 .
  1. Reconnect the climate control unit 32P connector.
  1. Disconnect navigation unit connector B (32P).

  1. Connect navigation unit connector B (32P) terminals No. 4, 20, and 21 with a jumper wire.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Press the RECIRCULATION CONTROL and OFF buttons.
Does the RECIRCULATION CONTROL indicator turn on?
YES -
NO -
Substitute a known-good climate control unit, and recheck. If the symptom goes away, replace the original climate control unit .■
