VSA DTC Troubleshooting: 73

DTC 73:
 Yaw Rate Sensor (Power Supply)
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor 4P connector (without i-SHIFT model) or yaw rate-lateral/longitudinal acceleration sensor 4P connector (with i-SHIFT model).
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Measure the voltage between body ground and yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor 4P connector terminal No. 1 (without i-SHIFT model) or yaw rate-lateral/longitudinal acceleration sensor 4P connector terminal No. 1 (with i-SHIFT model).
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to Step 5 .
NO -
Repair open (or high resistance) in the wire between the No. 4 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor (without i-SHIFT model) or yaw rate-lateral/longitudinal acceleration sensor (with i-SHIFT model).■
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Reconnect the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor 4P connector (without i-SHIFT model) or yaw rate-lateral/longitudinal acceleration sensor 4P connector (with i-SHIFT model).
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II).
  1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 73 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 11 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose terminals between the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor 4P connector (without i-SHIFT model) or yaw rate-lateral/longitudinal acceleration sensor 4P connector (with i-SHIFT model) and the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II).
  1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 73 indicated?
YES -
Check for loose terminal in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit and retest.■
NO -
