VSA DTC Troubleshooting: 61

DTC 61:

IG1 Voltage Low

Test the battery and check the connections.

Are the battery and connections OK?

YES	-	Go to Step 2 .
NO	-	Check the battery performance, and do the alternator and regulator circuit troubleshooting: L13Z1 engine model, R18A2 engine model, K20Z4 engine model. ■

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

Disconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector.

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

Measure the voltage between VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector terminal No. 40 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?

YES	-	Go to Step 6 .
NO	-	Repair open (or high resistance) in the wire between No. 4 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the VSA modulator-control unit.■

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

Reconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector.

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

Clear the DTC with the HDS.

Test-drive the vehicle at 15 km/h (10 mph) or more.

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 61 indicated?

YES	-	Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit and retest.■
NO	-	Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose terminals at the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting. ■
