DTC 22-01:
Engine Speed Signal (Initial diagnosis)
NOTE: If the MIL indicator is on, troubleshoot the PGM-FI system first.

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-
Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC).
-
Start the engine.
-
Check the NE in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is there 0 engine rpm at idle?
|
|
YES
|
-
|
|
|
NO
|
-
|
The system is OK at this time.■
|
-
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-
Disconnect EPS control unit connector D (28P).
-
Short the SCS line with the HDS.
-
Disconnect ECM connector A (49P) (L13Z1 engine model) or ECM connector A (44P) (except L13Z1 engine model).
-
Check for continuity between EPS control unit connector D (28P) terminal No. 3 and body ground.

Repair short to body ground in the wire between the EPS control unit and the ECM.■

NO
|

|
-
Connect ECM connector A (49P) (L13Z1 engine model) or ECM connector A (44P) (except L13Z1 engine model).
-
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
