How to Troubleshoot the Deflation Warning System
System Indicator
The system has three indicators:
  • Low tyre pressure indicator (A)
  • Low tyre pressure message (MID) (B)
  • CHECK SYSTEM message (deflation warning system) (MID) (C)
The Low Tyre Pressure Indicator
If the system detects low tyre pressure in any of the four tyres, the low tyre pressure indicator come on, as well as the message indicator. It will keep being turned on until initialization starts.
CHECK SYSTEM (Deflation Warning System)
  • If a problem in the system is detected, the VSA indicator comes on, and CHECK SYSTEM message (deflation warning system) on the MID is displayed, and the low tyre pressure indicator comes on after blinking for about 75 seconds.
  • If VSA falls into error mode, deflation warning system also falls into error mode and stops all operation. If deflation warning system is during learning, learning will be suspended.
If the system is OK, the low tyre pressure indicator should come on when you turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and then go off 2 seconds later. If they don't, there is a problem with the system.
Condition for Data Rejection
Even if a system is normal, learning or deflation detection is not performed during the following conditions.
  • Brake pedal is pressed.
  • While stopping.
  • While going slower than 25 km/h (16 mph) or cruising over 250 km/h (155 mph).
  • Short turn, abrupt acceleration, and abrupt slowdown.
  • In case speed valiance of right and left driven wheels is different (on sandy, gravel, extremely rough, snowy, or icy roads).
  • During operation of ABS, EBD, TCS, VSA.
  • Cornering radius of less than 130 m (427 ft.).
  • Abnormality of the yaw rate value or torque value.
Case Deflation Warning System Can Not Operate Normally
In the following cases, false warning might occur or deflation might not be detected.
  • Simultaneous deflation of multiple tyres (natural leakage, low temperature, etc).
  • Non-recommended tyres are used.
  • Tyres with different worn level, different brand or different sizes are used.
  • The growth of the new tyres occurs after learning when all four tyres are not changed at once.
  • Initialization with non-recommended tyre pressure.
  • Temporally spare tyres or tyre chains are mounted.
  • On sandy, gravel extremely rough, snowy, or icy roads.
  • With trailer towing.
  • With roof carrier.
  • With very heavy load.
  • With extremely unbalanced load.
  • Rapid deflation like a tyre burst.
