DTC Troubleshooting: P19E9 (131-1)

DTC P19E9:
 Brake Pedal Position Signal Malfunction (from ECM by Signal Line)
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Wait for 2 minutes.
  1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P19E9 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 7 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.■
  1. Press and release the brake pedal several times.
  1. With the brake pedal released, check the BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH AND SIGNAL in the DATA LIST with the HDS.
Does it indicate ON?
YES -
Repair a short to ground in the wire between the ECM (A27) (R18A2 engine model) or ECM (A28) (L13Z1 engine model) and the TCM (A35).■
NO -
Go to Step 9 .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the clutch actuator subharness 10P connector from the engine compartment wire harness.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Measure the voltage between clutch actuator subharness 10P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Repair a short to power in the wire between the ECM (A27) (R18A2 engine model) or ECM (A28) (L13Z1 engine model) and the TCM (A35).■
NO -
Go to Step 13 .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  1. Disconnect ECM connector A (44P) (R18A2 engine model) or ECM connector A (49P) (L13Z1 engine model).

  1. Check for continuity between ECM connector A (44P) terminal No. 27 (R18A2 engine model) or ECM connector A (49P) terminal No. 28 (L13Z1 model) and clutch actuator subharness 10P connector terminal No. 3.
Is there continuity?
YES -
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the ECM (A27) (R18A2 engine model) or ECM (A33) (L13Z1 engine model) and the clutch actuator subharness.■
