M/T Assembly Installation

Special Tools Required

Engine support hanger

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
  1. Make sure two dowel pins (A) are installed in prescribed hole on the engine block as shown.
  1. Place the transmission on the transmission jack, and raise it to the engine unit level.

  1. Install the lower transmission mounting bolts.

  1. Install the lower torque rod bracket (A) with new bolts.

  1. Install the lower torque rod (A) with new bolts.

  1. Install the clutch cover (A).

  1. Install the converter bracket (A).

  1. Install the driveshaft heat shield (A).
  1. Lower the vehicle on a lift.

  1. Install the transmission mounting bracket base (A). Install the new transmission mounting bolt (B) and stud bolts (C).

  1. Install the new transmission mounting bracket bolts (A) and new nuts (B), then install the ground cable (C).
  1. Raise the vehicle on a lift.

  1. Loosen and retighten the lower torque rod mounting bolt.
  1. Lower the vehicle on a lift.

  1. Loosen the wing nut (A). Remove the hook (B) and engine support hanger (C) from the vehicle.

  1. Remove the hanger plate (A) to the air cleaner housing mounting bracket (B) with the 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (C). Install the purge control SOL.V. hose (D).

  1. Install the one upper transmission mounting bolt.

  1. Connect the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor connector (A), then install the harness bracket (B).

  1. Install the air cleaner housing bracket (A) with the air cleaner housing stay (B).

  1. Apply a light coat of silicone grease to the cable ends (A), and connect the cable end to the change lever assembly (B), then install the shift cable bracket (C) and the lock pins (D). Do not bend or damage the shift cable.
    NOTE: Make sure not to get any silicone grease on the terminal part of the connectors and switches, especially if you have silicone grease on your hands or gloves.

  1. Connect the back-up light switch connector (A) and the reverse lockout solenoid connector (B), then install the harness clips (C).

  1. Apply a light coat of molybdenum grease to the end of the cylinder rod (A).
  1. Install the clutch hose bracket (B), then install the slave cylinder (C). Do not bend or damage the clutch line.
  1. Install the battery base.
  1. Install the battery. Connect the positive cable first, then the negative cable to the battery.
  1. Check the shift lever and the clutch operation.
  1. Test-drive the vehicle.
  1. Enter the anti-theft code for the audio or the navigation system, then enter the customer's audio presets, and set the clock.
