Front Seat-back Cover Replacement

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
  • Do not repair any tears or frayed spots of the seat-back cover. If necessary, replace the seat-back cover.
  • Take care not to tear the seams or damage the seat covers.
  • Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  • LHD is shown; RHD is similar.
  1. Remove the slide knob (A). Remove the screw and the slide knob trim (B).

  1. From under seat cushion, detach the side airbag connector clip (A), walk-in switch connector clip (B).
  1. Release the hook (C) from the seat cushion frame. Remove the wire ties (D), and pull the side airbag harness (E) out through slits (F) in the seat cushion cover.

  1. Release the hook (A), and unzip the seat-back cover (B).

  1. Pull the side airbag harness (A) and walk-in switch harness (B) out through the harness holes (C) in the seat-back cover and seat frame. Driver's seat is shown; passenger's seat is similar.

  1. Release the front hook (A) and the rear hook (B) of the reinforcing cloth (C) from the seat-back frame (D).

  1. Using a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape, insert a flat-tip screwdriver to the hook portions (8 places) of the headrest rear trim (A) from the headrest front trim side. Pry up the hooks (B) to release the tabs (C) of the headrest front trim (D) while pulling the headrest front trim forward, and remove the trim.

  1. Replace the fasteners (A).

  1. Remove the seat-back cover/pad (A) from the seat (B).

  1. Pull back the edge of the seat-back cover all the way around, and release the clips (A), then remove the seat-back cover.

  1. Install the cover in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    • To prevent wrinkles when installing a seat-back cover, make sure the material is stretched evenly over the pad before securing the clips, hooks, and hook strips.
    • Replace any clips you removed with new ones (A).
    • Reinstall the front hook (B) and rear hook (C) of the reinforcing cloth securely.
    • Make sure the side airbag harness is routed properly.
