Intake Manifold Removal and Installation


Removal
  1. Remove the intake manifold cover.

  1. Remove the vacuum hose (A) and breather pipe (B), then remove the intake air duct (C).
  1. Remove the engine wire harness connectors and wire harness clamps from the intake manifold.
    • Four fuel injector connectors
    • Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor connector
    • Throttle actuator connector

  1. Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister hose (A), brake booster vacuum hose (B), and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose (C).

  1. Remove the water bypass hoses (A), then plug the water bypass hoses.
  1. Remove the harness clamps (B).

  1. Remove the ground cable (A) and harness holder (B).
  1. Raise the vehicle on the lift to full height.

  1. Remove the harness connectors (A) and harness clamp (B), then remove the intake manifold bracket (C).
  1. Lower the vehicle on the lift.

  1. Remove all the intake manifold mounting bolts and nuts.
  1. Remove the two stud bolts (A), then remove the intake manifold (B).

Installation
  1. Install the intake manifold (A) with a new gasket (B), then tighten the two stud bolts (C).
  1. Tighten all intake manifold mounting bolts and nuts in a crisscross pattern in two or three steps, beginning with the inner bolt.
  1. Raise the vehicle on the lift to full height.

  1. Install the intake manifold bracket (A), then install the harness connectors (B) and harness clamp (C).
  1. Lower the vehicle on the lift.

  1. Install harness holder (A), and ground cable (B).

  1. Install the water bypass hoses (A) and harness clamps (B).

  1. Install the EVAP canister hose (A), brake booster vacuum hose (B), and PCV hose (C).
  1. Connect the engine wire harness connectors, and install the wire harness clamps to the intake manifold.
    • Four fuel injector connectors
    • MAP sensor connector
    • Throttle actuator connector

  1. Install the intake air duct (A), then install the vacuum hose (B) and breather pipe (C).

  1. Install the intake manifold cover.
  1. Clean up any spilled engine coolant.
  1. After installation, check that all tubes, hoses and connectors are installed correctly.
