Disconnect the back-up light switch connector (A).

Check for continuity between the No. 1 and No. 2 terminals of the back-up light switch. There should be continuity when the shift lever is in reverse.

If necessary, replace the back-up light switch. Apply liquid gasket (P/N 08C70K-0234M), and install it on the transmission housing. Tighten the back-up light switch to the specified torque.

NOTE: Do not install components if too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket (for P/N 08718-0002), no more than 4 minutes, for all others, no more than 5 minutes). Instead, remove the old residue and reapply the liquid gasket.
