Fuel Filter Water Level Switch Test

  1. Start the engine, then check the engine condition.
    • If the engine condition is OK, go to Step 4 .
    • If the engine condition is not OK, do the symptom troubleshooting.
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  1. Disconnect the fuel filter water level switch 2P connector (A).

  1. Connect fuel filter water level switch 2P connector terminal No. 2 to body ground with a jumper wire.
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and then check the water in fuel filter display.
    • If the water in fuel filter display is on, repair open in the BLK wire between the fuel filter water level switch and G401. If wire is OK, go to Step 8 .
    • If the water in fuel filter display is not on, repair open in the GRN wire between the fuel filter water level switch and ECM connector No. 2 terminal No. 86. If wire is OK, substitute a known-good ECM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM, replace the original ECM.
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  1. Check the float movement of the fuel filter water level switch.
  1. Connect the fuel filter water level switch 2P connector to the fuel filter water level switch.
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  1. Move the float of the fuel filter water level switch, and check the water in fuel filter display.
