Start the engine. Set the heater temperature control dial to maximum heat, then turn off the ignition switch. Make sure the engine and radiator are cool to the touch.

Remove the engine cover.

Remove expansion tank cap.

Raise the vehicle on the hoist to full height.

Remove the engine undercover.

Loosen the radiator drain plug (A), and drain the coolant.

Remove the drain bolt (A) on the rear of the engine block and drain the coolant.

After the coolant has drained, tighten the radiator drain plug securely.

Reinstall the drain bolt with new washer and tighten it securely.

Install the engine undercover.

Lower the vehicle on the hoist.

Loosen the bleed bolt (A) on the cylinder head.

Pour genuine Honda Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2 into the expansion tank (A) to the MAX mark (B).

NOTE:

Engine Coolant Capacities (Including the expansion tank capacity of 0.6 L (0.16 US gal, 0.13 Imp gal))

At Coolant Change:

6.6 L (1.74 US gal, 1.45 Imp gal)

After Engine Overhaul:

7.8 L (2.06 US gal, 1.72 Imp gal)

Tighten the bleed bolt when the coolant comes out in a steady stream with no bubbles.

Install expansion tank cap loosely.

Start the engine and let it run until the radiator fan comes on at least twice. Do not operate the air conditioning system. Then stop the engine. Make sure to warm up the engine to bleed the remaining air in the engine block.

Adjust the coolant level in the expansion tank to the MAX mark (A) after warming up the engine.

Install the expansion tank cap and tighten it fully, then run the engine again and check for leaks.

Remove the left front wheel, then remove the left front inner fender.

Check the receiver to see that the coolant does not get in the receiver. If the coolant gets in the receiver, remove the clips (A), then slide and remove the receiver (B) from the tab (C).

Drain the coolant, then reinstall the receiver.

Install the left front inner fender, then install the left front wheel.
