Fuel Breather Line and Suction Line Inspection

  1. Disconnect the suction hose (A) from the fuel pump, and connect a vacuum pump (B).
  1. Start the engine, and check the vacuum.
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  1. Connect a vacuum pump (A) to the suction hose, and apply vacuum to the hose (B).
    • If the vacuum holds, check the blockage on the suction line and replace the 3-way joint.
    • If the vacuum doesn't hold, go to Step 6 .

  1. Disconnect the breather hose (A) of the filler side from the 3-way joint (B), and set the rubber cap (C) to the 3-way joint.

  1. Connect a vacuum pump (A) to the suction hose, and apply vacuum to the hose (B).
    • If the vacuum holds, check the blockage between the 3-way joint and the fuel tank vapor liquid separation valve on the breather line. If line is OK, replace the fuel tank.
    • If the vacuum doesn't hold, go to Step 8 .

  1. Connect a vacuum pump (A) to the breather hose (B) of the filler side, and apply air pressure to the hose.
    • If the air pressure holds, check the blockage between the 3-way joint and the filler neck on the breather line.
    • If the air pressure doesn't hold, go to Step 9 .
  1. Remove the rubber cap from the 3-way joint, and reconnect the breather hose to the 3-way joint.

  1. Connect a vacuum pump (A) to the suction hose (B), and apply air pressure to the hose.
    • If the air pressure holds, the breather line and the suction line are OK.
    • If the air pressure doesn't hold, check the vacuum leak on the suction hose and replace the 3-way joint.
