Engine Oil Pan Installation

  1. Remove all of the old liquid gasket from the oil pan mating surfaces, bolts, and bolt holes.
  1. Clean, and dry the oil pan mating surfaces.
  1. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08C70-K0234M, 08C70-K0334M or 08C70-X0331S, evenly to the engine block mating surface of the oil pan.
    NOTE: Do not install components if 5 minutes or more have passed after applying the liquid gasket. Instead, remove the old residue and reapply the liquid gasket.

  1. Install the dowel pins (A), then install the oil pan (B) with a new O-rings (C).

  1. Tighten the bolts in two or three steps. In the final step, tighten all bolts, in sequence, to 18 N·m (1.8 kgf·m, 13 lbf·ft). Wipe off the excess liquid gasket on the each side of crankshaft pulley and flywheel.
    NOTE:
    • Wait at least 30 minutes before filling the engine with oil.
    • Do not run the engine for at least 3 hours after installing the oil pan.

  1. Install the clutch cover (A), and install the two bolts securing the transmission.

  1. Install the A/C compressor bracket.

  1. Remove the lower torque rod bracket.

  1. Connect the oil level sensor connector (A), then install the oil level sensor cover (B).
  1. Install the two bolts (C) securing the harness holder.
  1. If the engine is still in the vehicle, do the following steps.
  1. Lower the vehicle on the hoist.
  1. Raise the vehicle on the hoist to full height.
  1. Lower the vehicle on the hoist.
  1. Raise the vehicle on the hoist to full height.
  1. Lower the vehicle on the hoist.
  1. Install the A/C condenser fan shroud (with A/C).
