Rear Side Outer Panel Installation

  1. Clamp the new side sill sitiffener, and check the body dimensions.
  1. Weld the new side sill stiffener (A), to the front pillar inner lower (B), center inner pillar (C), and side sill rear stiffener (D).
  1. Install the center pillar inner separator (A) on the side sill stiffener (B).
    NOTE: Apply the sealer (C) all the way around the separator and inside of the new center pillar lower stiffener (D), without gaps.
  1. Clamp the new center pillar lower stiffener (A), outer panel stiffener (B), new rear combination adaptor (C), rear pillar gutter lower (D), and rear pillar extension (E), and tack weld them into position.
  1. Cut the new outer panel (repair part) to align it with the body.
  1. Clamp the new outer panel (repair part), and check the body dimensions.
  1. Temporarily install the door, tailgate, and rear bumper, then check for differences in level and clearance. Make sure the body lines flow smoothly.
  1. Remove the new outer panel, weld the front pillar lower stiffener (A), center pillar lower stiffener (B), and outer panel stiffener (C). Apply the sealer (D) to the outer panel stiffener.
  1. Install the center pillar outer separator (A) on the center pillar lower stiffener (B).
    NOTE: Apply the sealer (C) all the way around the separator inside of the rear side outer repair part (D) without gaps.
  1. Clamp the outer panel, and recheck the clearance and alignment of the door and tailgate. Check the operation of the door and tailgate.
  1. Do the main welding. Attach the patch (A) at the cut section (B) of the side sill outer repair part (C) and rear side outer repair part (D), and plug weld them.
  1. Weld the rear combination adaptor (A), rear pillar gutter lower (B), rear pillar extension (C), and jack holder (D).
