DTC Troubleshooting: B1176
DTC B1176:
 Fuel Level Sensor (Fuel Gauge Sending Unit) Circuit Short
  1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and then back ON (II).
  1. Wait for 30 seconds.
  1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1176 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 5 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the fuel level sensor circuit is OK at this time.■
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  1. Disconnect the fuel tank unit 4P connector.
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and then back ON (II).
  1. Wait 30 seconds.
  1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1176 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 12 .
NO -
  1. Disconnect the gauge control module (tach) 36P connector.
  1. Check for continuity between the fuel tank unit 4P connector No. 1 terminal and body ground individually.
Are there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short in the wire between the gauge control module (tach) and the fuel tank unit.■
NO -
