Headlight Leveling Motor Input Test
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  1. Disconnect the 8P connector (A) from the headlight.
  1. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals are OK, go to Step 4 .
  1. With the connector still disconnected, make these input tests at the connector.

    Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity.
    • Poor ground (G503)
    • Faulty headlight auto leveling control unit *1

    Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity.
    • Poor ground (G201, G301)
    • An open in the wire

    Ignition switch ON (II)
    Check for voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    • Faulty headlight auto leveling control unit
    • An open in the wire
    WHT *2
    Ignition switch ON (II)
    Check for voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    An open in the wire

    PNK *1
    Ignition switch ON (II)
    Check for voltage to ground: There should be about 3−13 V.
    • Faulty headlight auto leveling control unit
    • An open in the wire
    LT GRN *2
    Headlight leveling switch in 0 position
    Check resistance between the No. 1 terminal and body ground: There should be about 4.2 kΩ.
    • Poor ground (G403)
    • Faulty headlight leveling switch
    • An open in the wire
